The CB 150X is Honda’s small adventure-tourer: a 149cc single with a tall screen, long-travel suspension and an upright seat that lets you spend the whole day riding without thinking about your back. This particular bike is a one-of-a-kind build — bright blue custom bodywork, gold upside-down forks and a touring windscreen — so there is no other one like it on the island.
Underneath the paint it is the same easy machine as our standard CB 150X: 14 horsepower, a light clutch and a manual gearbox that forgives a missed shift. The screen takes the wind off your chest on the bypass, the suspension soaks up broken village tarmac, and the seat height is friendly for shorter riders. It carries two people around town comfortably and climbs to Ubud, Sidemen or the north coast at an unhurried pace.
It works as a first manual motorcycle, and it works for anyone who wants to cover distance on Bali without stepping up to a big bike. What it is not is quick: if you want to be first away from the lights, the CB 500X shares the same upright layout with three times the power.
Because the bodywork is custom, we ask for a little more care with it than on a stock CB 150X, and the daily rate sits a step above the black and green ones. If the look is not important to you, those are the cheaper way to get the same ride. Minimum rental three days; two helmets, a phone holder and free delivery within 20 km are included.
